God is good

There are passages in the Bible that demonstrate the "goodness" of God. Here are some samples:

Be kind to strangers, widows and orphans

Do a little something extra in your daily work to provide for those less fortunate than yourself:

- Deuteronomy 24:17:

Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge

24:18 But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

24:19 When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

24:20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

24:21 When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

24:22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

Be generous to those less fortunate

Give of your own money, a tithe to be specific, to the poor; give of your own possessions to those less fortunate.

- Deuteronomy 26:12:

When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

26:12-13 "The stranger, the fatherless, and the widow" Take care of those who need help.

26:13 Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them.

Be kind to animals

Let your animal eat while it works. Don't let him see but not eat the food.

- Deuternomy 25:4:

Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.
