Throughout history, people have believed in "magic": the notion that some supernatural force is in effect which affects things we cannot explain rationally.
The field of magic is diverse. It's no surprise that people like to believe many types of magic are real. The most poignant example are modern day magicians who perform seemingly impossible tricks. But in all of these cases, just because you don't understand how and why something happened, does not mean a supernatural force is responsible.
Here's an example: David Copperfield appeared to make the Statue of Liberty disappear, or did he?
