"Most of the founding fathers of the United States were considered Deists." I found this interesting and a little surprising -- are there references? I think this could be a page/entry all of its own, since the founder's intentions and beliefs seem to make a big difference on how they have been interpreted.

If there was nothing, would there still be God?
For the purposes of this discussion God is defined as a higher power, the source of all existence, with a will, and some form of involvement with creation.
I'm reading about pantheism and panentheism on answers.com, while trying to determine my position on the matter.
In pantheism, God is everything, and everything is God. i.e. Without God, nothing exists; without everything else, God would not exist. There would only be nothing.
Whereas, in panentheism God is the source of everything, and everything is a part of God, but not the whole of God. So in this argument, if there is nothing definable, God still exists.
Does nothingness also sprout from God, or is nothingness simply infinite empty?
Definition
The definition seems to be lacking. It states that 'Theism is the belief that a deity or deities exist.' That seems like deism to me. Theism is deism, and that one can have a personal relationship with the deity. No ?--219.76.99.194 22:02, 23 June 2011 (CDT)
