Intelligent Design

Intelligent Design is the belief that the universe and living things were created by a supernatural force, not an undirected process such as natural selection or evolution. It is a modern form of the traditional argument for the existence of God. The American Association for the Advancement of Science have termed it Pseudoscience (Pseudoscience is any alleged body of knowledge or belief that is claimed to be scientific or made to appear scientific but is not actually scientific). "Intelligent design" originated in response to the 1987 United States Supreme Court Edwards v. Aguilard ruling involving separation of church and state.

Intelligent Design In The Scientific Community

A key strategy of the intelligent design movement is convincing the general public that there is a debate raging among scientists about whether life evolved, in order to convince the public, politicians and cultural leaders, that they should teach Intelligent Design alongside Evolution in classrooms. There is no such debate, however, within the scientific community; the scientific consensus is that life evolved.
